Re: the last entry, I actually entered the art prize.

Here's my description in the application I made:

INSTALLATION: MANY NARROW ESCAPES

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK

The installation sits within a corner of the gallery space, either existing or created for the purpose.

There is a desk with a pile of A4 paper and pencils, two chairs, one on either side of the desk, and a table with headphones and an audio device next to one of the chairs.

A sketch artist sits behind the desk.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WORK

During the exhibition, visitors take it in turn to sit in the empty chair facing the desk. Each visitor picks up the headphones to listen to the sound recording provided; the sound of an unknown woman reading aloud an old newspaper article (duration: approx. 1 minute). Afterwards, the visitor describes to the sketch artist what they believe to be the woman�s appearance, and the sketch artist creates a drawing of the perceived face.

Each drawing created is then pinned to the wall behind the desk. The work grows during the duration of the exhibition as more visitors contribute to the artwork by their responses to the provided audio recording.
