My novel 2004.. My novel 2006.. My novel 2008..

I suddenly became part of a large Baroque musical group at uni the other week. This is despite the fact that I can't play harpsichord, even though it sort of seems like a piano until you touch a key and realise it's more like a typewriter that could break more easily. They want me to play like harpsichord or something.

So anyway, there is a soprano lady, a flute player, two recorder players, and two cello players who might be bossy. We are called the Telemanniacs. This is because we will specialise in the music of the composer Telemann and we wanted a silly name (I almost accidentally typed 'silky' name). It's good because all the other groups are called the 'Bla Blah quartet' (insert first and last name in place of Bla Blah).

Anyway, we auditioned on Friday. Just before we were going to audition, one of the other people in the group mentioned only three chamber ensembles were allowed this year. It almost gave me a heart attack. Shit.

The singer forgot how to sing the thing so I had to pound out her notes whilst plonking out my own notes but everyone else was OK.

Whatever. It's not like my life will collapse if we don't get through. I'll just get slightly crushed for eight minutes.
