I tried to introduce a new thing into the relationship, which was to have a special gesture when something cool happens or if something goes right. I was thinking along the lines of what a pair of 90s stoners would do, like Bill and Ted. My idea was that we would tickle each other's hands furiously for about five seconds.

We tried it out for a few days, but Roland never took to it. I didn't think he was all that into it from the beginning. I was disappointed.
